Carl Johan Carlson, son of Daniel Carlson and Stina Nilsdotter, was born in Fällebo, Kristdala Parish, Kalmär Län, Småland, Sweden, on March 15, 1826.
Marta Catherina Nilsdotter, daughter of Nils Peter Nilsson and Lena Kaisa Nilsdotter (of Mossebo) was born in Mörlunda Parish, Kalmar Län, Småland, Sweden, on August 7, 1827.
According to records, Carl moved from Gårdå to Åkerä in 1853.
Carl and Marta were married on July 20, 1854 in Mörlunda Parish, Kalmar Län, Småland, Sweden. They lived first in Åkerä, moved to Johannesborg in 1860, then back to Åkerä in 1864. On November 19, 1869, Carl, Marta, and one of their children (probably John) left for America. For Anna and Ida, click on the HIJ button and look under JOHANNESBERG). Records show their daughters Anna and Ida followed in 1870. The family lived first in Varna, Illinois, then moved to Holdege, Phelps County, Nebraska in 1879.
