Chester Arthur Adams, son of Russell Dean and Arminta (Oliver) Adams was born in 1891. Chester graduated from Broken Bow Business College.
Chester married Mabel Kuhn on March 7, 1935, in Shelby, Nebraska. They lived on the Adams farm. During this time, when their children were very young, Chester was stricken with rheumatism so severe it was difficult to dress and care for himself. After several weeks of treatment in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, he recovered to lead an active life living and working on the farm until he was 93. Mabel attended music school in Grand Island and then gave private piano lessons. She played for many weddings and funerals in the Mason City and Litchfield area.
When the Adams farm was sold in 1941, the family moved to the Kuhn farm, one and one-half miles east, where they lived until moving to Loup City in 1984.
Chester and Mabel both enjoyed family reunions and had many family gatherings at their home as they liked to have family around. Chester reached the age of 100, living alone, after Mabel died, with an excellent mind and his hearing was better than most teenagers. He felt the biggest change in those 100 years was the change in transportation, going from horse and buggy to railroad, car, jet plane and travel to the moon.
Chester and Mabel had two children:
