Jacob A. Daum, son of Jacob and Mary Daum, was born January 4, 1898 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Jacob grew up on his family's ranch on the Missouri River, near Glasgow, Montana. (At age 102, he documented his many memories of the years growing up on the prarie in his "Stories of My Life".)
Emma Stucky was born March 26, 1899. Jacob and Emma married and had two children. Emma died young on June 12, 1959, at age 60, and Jacob remarried to Sara Stucky on June 26, 1960. Jacob lived in McPherson County, Kansas, for most of his adult life. Jacob died on November 12, 2003, six weeks short of his 106th birthday. He died with a fine mind, until the last day ... a charmer, maintaining a sense of humor until the last.
Jacob and Emma had two children:
Jeanette Daum | Born in 1931. Jeanette married Ron Friesen, and lives in Loveland, Colorado. |
Kermit Daum | Born in 1934. Kermit married Anne ??, and lives in Derby, Kansas. |
Jacob never did complete the "Stories of My Life". However, his son Kermit summarized it in his eulogy that was read at his funeral held at the Eden Mennonite Church, November 16, 2003.
