Karl and his wife Wilhelmeina (Schmidt) Bleich emmigrated to the U.S. from Germany in 1912 (possibly from the city of Osterweick), along with their daughter Matilda, Matilda's husband, Frank Schmidt, and Matilda and Frank's children: Otto, Anne, and ????. Karl's and Wilhelmeina's daughter Augusta had previously emmigrated to the U.S. in 1892, to join her fiancé, Fred Leistiko, who had emmigrated the previous year.
It seems likely that Karl and Wilhelmeina settled in Montana, where their daughter Augusta and their son Edward lived. This is supported by the fact that pictures of Matilda were taken at a studio in Great Falls, Montana.
Karl and Wilhelmeina had three children:
Julia | Born in 18?? |
Augusta Bleich | Born in 18?? |
Herman | Born in 18?? |
Edward Bleich | Born in 18??. Edward married the widow Rosa Wagner, mother of Irene (Wagner) Leistiko, wife of Fred A. Leistiko, son of Edward's sister Augusta. Thus Irene's mother married Irene's husband's uncle. |
