Paul Everett Nims, son of William and Fannie Nims, was born in Sumas, Washington, on June 27, 1894.
As a young man, Paul worked on the Lone Jack gold mine as a carpenter.
Paul married three times. In 1923, he first married, to Gladys Lindsey. In 1934 he married Hanna M. Esperson. Hanna died in 1969. Paul remarried once more, to Florence Brill.
Paul worked for 17 years as janitor and bus driver for the Harmony school, where he also did all the required electrical and plumbing work. He was a genius with machines. He owned his own machine tools, and built and invented anything that was not available. He built a chain saw before they were available commercially. Paul was also a brick mason, concrete man, and finish carpenter. He was a perfectionist at anything he did.
Paul built and operated several saw mills. During the 1930 period he had a country western band called the Stump Ranchers. Paul played the guitar and sang. After Paul married Florence, they lived on Hannegan Road north of Bellingham, until Paul died in 1983 at age 88.
