Ruth Aileen Nims was born in Sumas, Washington on November 12, 1914 at the family home east of Sumas. Ruth went through the local grade and high schools. She enjoyed raising a family in the wilderness of central British Columbia where they lived largely on moose meat, which was plentiful within shooting range of the porch.
Ruth married Vivian Murdock Kerr September 16, 1933 in Sumas, WA. Vivian was born July 2, 1902 in Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. Vivian worked on the prairies of Canada in his early years. After they were married, Vivian and Ruth managed the Leon Nims (Ruth's parents) farm in Sumas for several years. Later they moved to Bellingham where Vivian worked as an automobile salesman. They moved to Canada in 1947 where Vivian worked as a carpenter and built a house in Telkwa. Later he worked as a bookkeeper and on the railroad.
Ruth passed away in 1971 at age 57. Her body was interred November 16, 1971 in Telkwa, BC, Canada.
Vivian moved to Smithers in 1978 where he bought a house where he lived until his death in 1991 at age 89.
