Vinton L. Hogue (other family members spelled their name Hogg), son of Josiah and Sarah Hogue, was born July 23, 1878.
Edna Pearl Darling was the daughter of Norman N. and Alice (Mortemor) Darling. Norman is descended from a long line of Thomas Darlings, the oldest Thomas born in 1775 in Rindge, New Hampshire to Eliakim and Martha (Howe) Darling. Eliakim served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Salmon Stone's company from Rindge, New Hampshire. He was a signatory of the Rindge settlement pledge that they "will to the utmost of our power at the risque of our lives and fortunes, with Arms oppose the Hostile proceedings of the British Fleets and Armies angainst the United American Colonies".
Vinton married Edna in 1903 and they had six children:

| Jessie Hogue | Born in 1905 (twin to Paul?). Jessie married Barton T. Dunkle (1892-1957) and they had seven children: Loyal Vinton (1925-1984), Kenneth (1927), Charles (~1930), John (~1932), Cloyd (~1934),Violet (~1936), and Ruth Anne (~1938). Loyal married twice, first to Josephine R. Horney (1919) about 1944, and then to Bertha "Bertie" Kriley (1927) in 1946 and they had eight children: Loyal Eugene, Gloria Jean, Donna Leah, Carl Thomas, Walter George, Louise Margaret, Glenda Roberta, and Cynthia Rae Dunkle. Barton died in 1957, and Jessie died in 1974. |
| Thomas David Hogue | Born in 1909. Thomas was employed by Pullman-Standard (a railroad car manufacturer) for 27 years. He died in 1965. |
| Carl Hogue | Born in 1910. Married Pauline ???. He was a custodian for Tinken Roller Bearing Company in Camden, Ohio. Carl died in 1969. |
| Earl Leroy Hogue | Born in 1921. Earl married Frances Lombardozzi. Frances was the daughter of Orazio and Mary (Lauteria) Lombardozzi, who immigrated from Italy in 1910. Earl and Frances had 5 children: Earl Vinton "Butch", Paul Floyd, Edna Marie, Ruth Ann, and Mary Margaret Hogue. Earl was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the Army July 23, 1942, and was separated honorably from the service in Colorado on March 12, 1943 (no explanation for such a short term of service has yet been found). After leaving the service, Earl worked as a station attendant for Red Head Oil Company. Frances died in 1974. Earl died in 1984. |

Vinton was a carpenter by trade, and lived his entire life in the Butler, PA area. The Butler city directory for 1940 shows Vinton and Edna lived at 214 N. 6th Avenue, with their sons Earl and Thomas. In 1951, they were all still living there, and now their son Carl was also living there. Vinton died in 1961. Edna attended the Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Salvation Army Home League. She died in 1966.
