August and Rosine Leistikow

August Leistikow, son of Leopold and Sophia (Tiedt) Leistikow, was born March 24, 1886, in Bremer, Iowa.

Rosine Christine Kreb, daughter of Johann Georg and Rosine K. Kreb was born April 24, 1892, in Winterbach, Wuttenburg, Germany.

August married Frieda on January 19, 1911, at the same ceremony where August's brother Herman married Rosine's sister Frieda. After their marriages, the first child in both families were daughters, and they both were Christened at the same ceremony. The families continued to be close, as their farms were adjacent. Herman inherited 80 acres and the farmhouse of his father Leopold, and August farmed 120 acres directly to the north. (Refer to the 1917 map displayed in Leopold's page.)


August and Rosine had 4 children:

Martha Leistikow Born January 9, 1912 in Bremer, Iowa.
Mathilda L. Leistikow Born August 13, 1913, in Black, Iowa.
Lydia Marie Leistikow Born May 25, 1918, in Bremer, Iowa. Lydia married Paul Schneider.
Gertrude Marie Leistikow Born in December 1922, in Bremer, Iowa.
