Samuel Harper Hogg, son of Robert and Eliza Hogg, was
born on July 14, 1872. Eleanor "Ellen" Margaret Nicely, daughter of Stephen and Eleanor Jennie (Kelly)
Nicely, was born June 23, 1881, in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
Samuel, known as Harper, married Ellen on March 14, 1900, and they had 9 children:
Harper was a farmer, and a coal miner. Later he worked in a limestone quarry. Eleanor died
February 8, 1950, in Cabot, Pennsylvania. For many years before his death, Harper lived in a small
house next to his eldest daughter, Alice Barron. Harper passed away at the age of 93 in the home
of his daughter, Lena Schmitt, who had been caring for him. He died December 30, 1965, in
Meadville, Pennsylvania.
